The Association for South African Agricultural Educators (ASAAE) was founded in February 2010 in Pretoria at Hoër Meieiskool Pretoria. The first conference was attended by well over 200 educators from across all 9 provinces. There were more than 15 speakers at this conference over 3 days. Since then ASAAE has held a national conference once a year in January/February. The nature of the conference was about sharing best classroom practices in agricultural education in South Africa.

The mission of the ASAAE is to promote and enhance agricultural education by empowering educators at different levels through attendance of and participation in district, provincial, national, and even international conferences, workshops, seminars, and policy formulation processes.
The membership of the ASAAE is drawn from teachers of Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Management Practices, Agricultural Technology, and Basic Agriculture in ordinary public schools. Members are also drawn from lecturers from universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges as well as from the allied farming and agricultural industries. Membership currently stands at more than 2500 active members across South Africa.
